In light of numerous active shootings, like the Sandy Hook Elementary School, the Boston Marathon bombing and devastating hurricanes and tornadoes of recent years, the Obama Administration launched the "Stop the Bleed" campaign to provide people with the tools to stop life threatening bleeding in the event of an emergency.

Our chapter has taken an active role in this public safety campaign.  Feri Kiani MSN, RN, CCRN and Treasure-elect for our chapter has been working with the Trauma coordinator of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA), Missy Anderson.  CHLA offeres a number of classes that will instruct professionals and the lay public on the active role that they can take during a crisis.  The CHLA classes are listed on Stop the Bleed website. UCLA, also, offers its students, volunteers, and staff members courses on campus.  You can register at UCLA Worksafe.  After completion of the class, one can register at the  Stop the Bleed website to become a certified instructor.

Manhattan Beach School District, Stop the Bleed, September 2018
